Site Management Health and Safety Building Laws are directed at the building owner, or his authorised representative and not the constructor. The European Guideline 92/57/EWG was adopted into the German Legal System through the Safety and Health Protection Act for Building Sites (Building Sites Act). The aim being to greatly increase the health and safety protection for all employed on a building site. As a result the building owner, or his authorised representative, is charged , with making a health and safety protection plan (SIGEPLAN), under laid down conditions, appointing a Co-ordinator specially for it , together with the documentation and making all this generally known. 1. Announcements An announcement is to be made on all building sites on which the provisional extent of the work exceeds more than 30 days and where more than 20 people are simultaneously employed or the extent of the work provisionally exceeds 500 man-work-days. This announcement is to be laid before the local Building Inspectors Offices two week, at the very last, before the establishment of the building site. 2. Health and Safety Plan This plan must set down the Safety measures to be taken and observed and must contain specific instructions for especially hazardous work. A health and safety protection plan from building owner or his authorised representative, is to be made before the establishment of the building site when employees of subcontractors are used and announcements are to be conveyed or especially hazardous work will be carried out. < back		3. Co-ordinator When employees of subcontractors are used on the site then the building owner or his authorised representative, must appoint one or more coordinators, depending on the size of the site 4. Documentation The documentation will lay down measures to be taken in the case of future repair and maintenance work.
