Hydro power

The market for small-scale hydropower is growing steadily. In the history of Europe small-scale hydropower has been tightly linked to industrialisation. Water rights are often dormant and are only reactivated now as a result of the concerns and initiatives of a more ecological energy policy. But apart from the installation of hydroelectric power units next to artifical channels, rivers and reservoirs, the effective use of the energy potentials from urban water management facilities is becoming increasingly important. Power stations can utilize excess pressure in the water supply system or the potential energy in the outlet area of sewage works.
